Our team
About us
Buro Media is a team of Belarusian investigative journalists. We expose those who misuse money and power to the detriment of society. We uncover and investigate schemes with signs of corruption and other breaches of the law, striving for positive change. We document cases of bribery, fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, cronyism, sanctions evasion, human rights abuses, and other crimes across various sectors – from the economy to education, from politics to healthcare.
Buro Media is a member of two of the world’s largest organisations uniting investigative journalists: the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN).
Our team has produced numerous high-profile investigations, including in collaboration with partners from different countries: Paper Trail Media (Germany), Investigace.cz (Czech Republic), Oštro (Slovenia), Re:Baltica (Latvia), Vlast (Kazakhstan), Schemes: Corruption in Detail (Ukraine), Verstka (Russia), and others. Buro Media has taken part in international investigative projects such as Dubai Unlocked and Dear Compatriots.
Our investigative journalists have won prestigious awards for independent Belarusian media – Volnaje Slova (Free Word). In 2024, two Buro Media journalists received two awards in the Investigative Journalism category.
Our investigations do not go unnoticed and have a real-world impact: European and American politicians have imposed sanctions, and businessmen have offloaded companies exposed in suspicious schemes as a result of our work.
